Stump Grinding in Lakewood, WA

Q: How deep does stump grinding go?

Stumps are typically ground down below grade level, allowing the area to be used for new landscaping or grass.

Q: Can I plant new landscaping after stump grinding?

Yes, once a stump is ground down and cleared, the area is generally ready for new plantings or landscaping.

Q: Do you offer stump grinding for stumps not removed by your own tree service?

Yes, we provide stump grinding for existing stumps regardless of who originally removed the tree.

With Lakewood’s established neighborhoods often featuring older, larger trees, the stumps left behind after removal tend to be bigger than what a typical residential stump grinder handles on a newer property. Family Tree Care provides stump grinding suited to Lakewood’s tree population.

Handling Larger, More Established Stumps

A stump from a decades-old, mature tree common in Lakewood requires more grinding capacity and time than a smaller, younger tree’s stump — we come equipped for the actual scale of the job.

What Our Stump Grinding Service Includes

Our stump grinding service typically covers:

Grinding stumps down below grade level, sized to the tree’s original scale
Cleanup of resulting wood chips and debris
Service following our own tree removal or for existing stumps
Affordable pricing for residential and commercial properties
Free estimates before any work begins

Preparing Your Property for What Comes Next

Once a stump is fully ground down, the area is ready for new landscaping, grass, or whatever you have planned for that section of your Lakewood property.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Lakewood's stumps typically larger than average?

Given the area's often mature, established trees, stumps can be larger than what's typical on newer properties, which we account for with appropriately sized equipment.

We have used Family Tree for a few years and are always very pleased with their work. They are always willing to think with me about how best to take care of our trees and especially to shape them to fit our small yard. The trees that they trim beautifully shaped and open. They are also responsive, friendly, and courteous. We will continue to use them. Highly recommend.

We just had 4 trees trimmed today--thanks and kudos to Nolan and his crew for the hard work they did. Twice, he had me take a look at the trees to make sure I'm satisfied with the result. There were a lot of leaves, twigs and branches all over but they did a superb job leaving our yard cleaner than when they started. Thanks also to Jay, who's an arborist, and Rich for being so responsive to my questions before we had the project started. Highly recommended and will definitely call them again next time. These guys are topnotch!

The guys showed up on time, worked hard, very timely & did a great job of cleaning up after themselves! Highly recommended.

These guys are everything - Young, professional, thorough and affordable! Not only did they give us an estimate on what it would cost to trim and remove trees on our property, they educated us on the weaknesses they saw and how their services would benefit the overall health of the trees. Great team of people!

LaPria Bonner

I already wrote a lengthy post on their wall about what these guys did for us, but had to give a 5 star review as well...Family Tree Care did an amazing job, were extremely hard working, & left our yard looking great! Highly recommend!
